Canadian Congress on Leisure Research

Call for Presentation Proposals

Leisure is Transformation: Are you REDI?

We will invite scholars to question how leisure and their scholarship address the complex issues of
Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion; but first we are asking you HOW you would like to share your research, ideas, and innovations.

Hosted by the World Leisure Centre of Excellence at Vancouver Island University, the 18th Canadian Congress of Leisure planning team invites proposals for innovative presentation styles/designs for CCLR 18 in Nanaimo, BC, Canada, from May 19-22, 2026.

Submission Period: April 23 June 14, 2025

We invite scholars and pracademics to propose unique presentation types and session designs that will enrich our Congress. Note: this call is not for study abstracts but for creative formats that engage and inspire.

Presentation Formats that are already in the mix:

Please submit your proposals through PheedLoop by June 14, 2025. For questions, contact the organizing committee at wlce@viu.ca
Join us in shaping a dynamic and innovative Congress experience. We look forward to your creative contributions!

  • Panels: Collaborative discussions among experts on focused topics.
  • Half Baked Ideas: Share developing ideas, concepts, and works in progress for feedback and discussion (10 minutes + 15 minutes for discussion)

  • Innovative Formats: We encourage proposals that move beyond traditional formats. Think creatively about how to engage attendees in meaningful dialogue.
  • Interactive Sessions: Consider how to incorporate interactive elements that facilitate audience participation.
  • Diverse Perspectives: Proposals should highlight diverse perspectives and encourage inclusive dialogue.
