CALS Graduate Student Conference Grant (International)


Description

This conference grant is intended to advance scholarship in leisure studies by providing support to international graduate/post-graduate students to attend CALS sponsored events (e.g. CCLR; Congress). There will be one grant available annually valued at $750.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be either currently registered in a degree or diploma programme or recently graduated (within the past year) from an institution outside of Canada.

  • Applicants with travel costs from outside of the host conference region will be given greater consideration (i.e. require accommodations and/or potential flight or train).

  • Only applicants who are registered for the entire conference and presenting a paper will qualify.

Application Materials

A complete application must contain the following:

  • A 500-word statement of their suitability and indication of full estimated travel cost and how CALS grant funding would be used. The statement should address the following:

  1. Are you receiving any grant funding from your supervisor or your department/faculty to attend this event?

  2. Are you receiving other funds to support your attendance at this conference?

  3. Is this your first CCLR or CALS sponsored conference? Indicate your previous history of attending/presenting at the conference.

  • A copy of the student’s CV/resume (no more than 2 pages in length).

  • A supporting letter from either their host institution and/or research supervisor.

Selection Criteria

Each application will be reviewed by members of the CALS award committee. Successful applicants will normally be reimbursed upon attendance.

Submission deadline is March 1, 2023.
