The Canadian Congress on Leisure Research (CCLR) is a triennial conference co-hosted by the Canadian Association for Leisure Studies (CALS) / Association canadienne d’études en loisir. The Canadian Congress on Leisure Research 16 (CCLR16) will be held May 29th to June 1st, 2021, in association with the 2021 Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Alberta (https://congress2021.ca).
The conference theme Leisure and Quality of Life will examine how leisure impacts and is in turn shaped by society and environments. As set out in the TALS/ANZALS/CALS/LARASA/LSA/AEME Joint Charge Statement in June of 2020, it is time to respond to the “greater need to tackle the …ways that leisure conscripts oppression onto the Other” as well as to understand how “leisure can also resist that conscription”.
